Hardware Configuration Manager
Fairwinds Technologies is looking for two Hardware Configuration Managers to manage the functional requirements, design, and operational information throughout each product’s lifecycle.
The Hardware Configuration Managers will develop migration plans and help oversee deployment.
Location: Remote in DMV with up to 25% Travel to Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD

Minimum Qualifications:
12 Years’ Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field
SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE
Experience with multiple configuration management tools
Working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems
Strong understanding of networking concepts
Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment with excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Ability to meet challenging deadlines and experience meeting short-turn and high-pressure deadline
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and operate self-guided with some supervision
Experience with Windows Server administration
Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure
Experienced in interpreting a Contract, and SOW and writing flow down CM requirements in CMOP and SSOW
Capable of creating, maintaining and analyzing product structure, correcting errors within CSA data based
Experience with generating Metrics and Reports through an CSA tool
Responsibilities:
Collaborating with other IT team members to ensure that all new technologies are compatible with existing systems
Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting issues when necessary
Evaluating new products and technologies to determine their potential value to the organization
Communicating with clients, including contractors and other external parties, to gather information about their needs
Maintaining an inventory of hardware assets with details about operating system versions, patch status, installed applications, and other relevant information
Installing new software applications on computers to meet customer needs or help employees be more productive
Reporting on inventory levels of hardware and software to ensure that there is enough of each item available
Providing technical support for software applications, hardware devices, and operating systems that are not functioning correctly
Providing training to users on how to use new technologies or applications that are being implemented in the workplace
Serve as the primary point of contact for all configuration management (CM) related activities
Develop and maintain CM plans, policies, procedures, and associated documentation
Manage and control changes to baseline configurations
Perform audits of systems and software to verify compliance with established baselines
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information flow
Monitor and report on CM metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
Investigate and resolve CM issues in a timely manner
Support the development and implementation of new technologies and processes
Provide training and guidance to project teams on CM best practices
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CM tools and techniques
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Keep abreast of industry trends and developments
Development of Configuration Management planning documentation
Establishment and coordination of Configuration/Change Control Boards (CCBs) for hardware
Managing and delivering engineering drawings, specification and software (Firmware), including engineering change documentation, requests for variances and other design documentation
Maintaining configuration control of Technical Data Package (TDP);
Maintaining data within the CM document management tools, status accounting systems
Maintaining configuration status accounting documentation
Supporting customer reviews and audits.
Tasks also include working with Program Office, Chief Engineering, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Software Engineering, Operations, Quality, other CDMs and external customer.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
