This expanding role is instrumental to the successful growth of a US based business unit within the Intelligence and Cyber division of Defence and Security prime L3Harris, and holds a key strategic role within the Division and the ICI leadership team, responsible for a rapidly growing $30M / c.
50 persons, US and International Defence related Robotic business.
The role encompasses financial control along with strategic direction and leadership for the BU that encompasses the full end to end lifecycle of product development, winning business, program delivery and operational excellence.
The role operates within both an international divisional leadership team as well as a US-based matrix organisation, and therefore the ability to work positively and constructively in a matrix environment, through exceptional influence, cultural leadership and stakeholder management is required.
The business leader is responsible for the planning and provision of high quality, customer focused delivery and services across the organisation, and for partnering with functional leadership to oversee all aspects of business management for the business.
The role is responsible for delivering, and directing activities to achieve financial performance and return on capital to the shareholders of the organisation in accordance with the targets as set and agreed with the Division / Sector / Segment.
Key Responsibilities: An integral and influential member of the ICI Division Executive team Day to day management & leadership of the Business Unit in accordance with L3Harris practice processes and stakeholder engagement within a large matrix organisation Define and deliver a 3 year vision and strategy plan for the business along with the appropriate annual objectives, operating plan and investment cases Prepares the BUs Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for approval by ICI Division and IC Sector and, once approved, has responsibility to deliver, monitor and update that plan Ensures the Quality Management System (QMS) and the BU’s financial records are complied with and maintained accordingly and the relevant reporting is adhered to To ensure the business meets its customer delivery commitments to OTOCOQ, and maintains a competitive and respected position in the market place Lead the development and implementation business strategies aligned to our customer and business mission(s) Sets annual goals, objectives and creates long term business plans aligned to the overall Division and Company growth plans and be able to increase and cement L3Harris’s position as a partner of choice in all our relevant domestic and international regions Be the Executive Champion for key / strategic pursuits within the business Forge and maintain trusted relationships with senior / executive customer and industrial stakeholders, identifying and fostering key strategic contacts / partnership for the BU / corporation Seeks and identifies strategic opportunities and partnerships for enhancing the viability of the Company and the realisation of its goals and objectives.
Leads and oversees the Business Development functions of the BU and continually adjusts the strategic direction and processes to achieve year-on-year growth.
To provide credible thought-leadership within the company and across wider industry Lead and inspire the leadership team and all employees through all aspects of change, challenge and opportunities, providing the vision and drive for the business strategy to support the objectives and strategic growth plans of the ICI Division and L3Harris Build a diverse and effective leadership team, providing guidance, coaching and motivation Provide a safe & respectful environment for employees and to operate in accordance with company values and high standards of business ethics, applicable laws and codes of practice.
Operate in accordance with company policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all contractual and legal obligations Essential Requirements for the Role: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience.
Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience Experience in related business discipline for the management of an engineering business in the Government, Defence and Commercial sectors.
Proven experience in senior management role(s) in an equivalent business or industry sector Ability to travel internationally is required .
Additional Skills and Experience: Proven experience and track record of delivering growth, ideally in the Defence and Security Sector, and within broad and complex international markets In depth knowledge and experience of corporate governance and managerial best practices Displays a high level of respect, diplomacy and tact when dealing with stakeholders Able to work in an International Executive team.
Prepared to be flexible to challenging time zones
