Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Vehicle Engineering Section Manager 2 - Mechanical Design/Integration to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals working at our Melbourne, Florida campus.
Job Summary: In this leadership role, you will manage the functional engineering activities of approximately 10-15 Mechanical and/or Aerospace Design Engineers.
Reporting to the Department Manager, you will be responsible for design product integrity, process adherence, staffing, training, and tools.
You will provide functional and technical oversight while also being directly involved in developing, modifying, and maintaining aircraft subsystems design configurations using current engineering practices and standards.
These subsystems may include, but are not limited to, Mechanical Systems, Landing Gear Systems, Weapons Integration Systems, Environmental Control Systems, Fuel Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Crew Systems and Equipment Integration.
The Section Manager may also perform IPT Subsystems Design leadership, supplier management, and/or other engineering tasks as the primary statement of work.
Functional responsibilities comprise approximately 20% of the role with the remaining 80% directly aligned to program execution.
Team engagement is a key focus and the ability to mentor, lead, and provide career guidance and coaching to others is required.
Key Responsibilities Include: Mechanical design and process oversight Providing leadership, mentorship, direction, engagement, and skill development to team members Ensuring team follows NG policies/procedures Managing training opportunities and budget allocations Participating in tool, process, and metric initiatives Coordinating staffing with IPTs and supporting the hiring process (to include resume review, interviewing, offer recommendations, and onboarding) Establishing and managing performance goals and providing regular feedback Participation in the performance review process, management of employee records, and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions, as necessary As a leader, you always act with integrity, and the highest ethical standards characterize everything you do.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9 years of relevant professional/military experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 7 years of relevant professional/military experience Experience in Mechanical Design and/or Subsystems Integration Background in military air vehicles Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) clearances prior to the commencement of employment Preferred Qualifications: Current, in-scope DoD Secret clearance Experience in technical leadership and guidance in Vehicle Design and/or Integration Demonstrated ability and experience leading an engineering or cross-functional team Salary Range: $119,300 - $178,900 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
