Job Summary The Senior Product Director for Specialty Risk is responsible for leading the Catastrophe and Specialty Products such as flood, earthquake, and wildfire, in support of overall business strategies.
This role includes development of new products, modifying existing products and maintenance of current products based upon financial results and customer acceptance.
This individual will monitor the competition and ensure Orion180 maintains a competitive advantage in terms of quality and performance.
This product team works closely with the marketing, sales, underwriting, actuarial, claims, risk management and customer experience teams to ensure all proposed initiatives are executed.
Role and Responsibilities To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position.
* As a member of ERM, support business groups in developing new and revised products in a timely fashion * Develop and maintain coverage forms, rules, and underwriting guidelines for proprietary insurance products * Manage product development projects for assigned lines of business or products (admitted and non-admitted) * Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Legal, Actuarial, Sales, Marketing, and Technology staff members to produce unique and high-quality insurance products * Complete required checklists for form and rule filings and provide certification attestations for forms’ compliance, where necessary * Provide a complete filing package in an organized, well-written manner * Provide prompt and well-written responses to state insurance departments’ interrogatories * Per state requirements, draft requested manuscript endorsements that provide needed coverage changes while maintaining the integrity of the policy form * Maintain strong relationships with business groups to identify products and processes needing improvement.
* Provide guidance to business groups regarding products, coverages, and new or revised requirements for assigned line(s) of business * Perform industry research and regulatory research and coordinate special projects to support strategic goals * Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term flood management strategies aligned with regional goals and objectives.
Formulate policies and action plans to reduce flood risks, enhance preparedness, and improve response and recovery efforts * Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with government agencies, local authorities, community organizations, environmental groups, and private sector entities to foster a coordinated and multi-disciplinary approach to flood management * Data Analysis and Forecasting: Utilize advanced flood modeling, hydrological data, and real-time monitoring to analyze flood patterns and forecast potential flood events.
Make data-driven decisions to improve flood response and management strategies * Policy Advocacy and Development: Stay informed about national and international flood management policies and advocate for relevant policy changes or improvements Qualifications and Education Requirements * Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent insurance industry experience * Extensive knowledge of primary and surplus lines insurance products * 8 or more years of insurance product development experience, including demonstrated expertise in the review and drafting of Flood insurance policy forms * Outstanding written and verbal communication skills * Strong interpersonal skills * Strong organizational skills * High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and sense of urgency in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
* CPCU, and/or similar designation(s), other related course work, or equivalent insurance industry experience is a plus Physical Demands While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs).
Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as a computer, printer, and phone.
In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop to open/close cabinets, reach for files or other standard office-type objects.
Work Environment The office environment is quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices, or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control.
An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on the company/department needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
