Job Title: Manager, Hardware Configuration Management Job Code: 9485 Job Location: Palm Bay, FL Job Description: The Associate Manager, Hardware Configuration Management is a critical specialty engineering support role that performs hardware configuration management (HWCM) functions to establish and oversee consistency of product performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information.
The primary goal of this role is to manage a group of HWCM team members, oversee the maintenance and integrity of system and hardware documentation, artifacts, baselines, media records, and associated configuration information using established configuration processes and controls.
This role also provides on-demand support to various engineering and program management teams as a subject matter expert for analyses, consultations, special topic discussions, tools support, DevOps support, and other tasking as required.
Essential Functions: Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management.
Manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction.
Communicate within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches.
Make significant improvements in processes, systems, or products.
Provide input into new products/processes and implement operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
Frequently responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees across the Company within area of expertise.
Frequently responsible for managing large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization, involving large cross-functional teams.
Interface with multiple disciplines and levels of management regularly to ensure adequate control and traceability of all hardware products and security compliance.
Responsible for meeting hardware configuration management technical, schedule and cost objectives on assigned programs and oversee delivery of hardware products.
Acts as a liaison between management and other functional groups to resolve issues regarding hardware configuration processes and records.
Manage a team of five or more hardware configuration management team members.
Administer existing hardware configuration management toolsets, to include Agile Product Data Management (PDM), Rational ClearQuest, Windchill, JIRA, and others.
Implement established hardware configuration management documentation, processes, training and principles in an Agile development environment (JIRA, Confluence, Artifactory, Bitbucket and others).
Perform audits to verify compliance with contract requirements.
Perform problem solving and provide creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues.
Contribute and facilitate suggestions for improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of job area.
May provide other functional support as assigned to assist in the execution of various engineering and program management activities.
Qualifications: Active Top Secret (TS) clearance is required.
Requires intermediate technical knowledge in the functional job area including analytical and troubleshooting skills typically obtained through advanced education in a technical field and/or prior experience in an relevant engineering or technical support role such as: Configuration Manager (CM), Data Manager (DM), Quality Assurance Technician (QA/QE/QC), document controller, design drafter, technical writer, program operations analyst, systems support engineer, software engineer, integration and test engineer, specialty engineer, or similar.
Requires experience providing a high level of customer service and support to multiple internal customers, external customers, and other stakeholders in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Requires experience using version control tools such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Agile PDM, JIRA, Artifactory, Bitbucket, ClearCase, Subversion, Confluence, Windchill or similar.
Willingness to work overtime and/or outside of normal business hours as needed to meet critical deadlines and business requirements.
Experience with managing people, training staff members, performance, and motivation Experience in an IT, IS, Software Engineering, Software Development, Software Engineering, Systems Administration, Cyber Security or Configuration Management or similar role Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience .
Preferred Additional Skills: Knowledge of Configuration Management principles as they apply to Hardware Experience in a Linux OS environment (e.
g.
RedHat, Ubuntu, CentOS) Tool Administrator experience, especially with Atlassian tools (e.
g.
, JIRA, Confluence) Familiarity with scripting languages (e.
g.
, Python, Perl, JSON, Batch, Bash) Familiarity with Agile processes (e.
g.
Kanban, Scrum) One or more relevant Configuration Management certification(s) such as CMPIC or NDIA.
Experience in continuous process improvement techniques such as Lean Six Sigma or similar.
Certified Scrum Master or Scrum Master experience
