L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager for the Communications Systems (CS) segment’s Brevard Engineering operations.
The role will report directly to the CS Brevard Sr.
Engineering Manager for the Electrical department.
The Electrical Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of approximately twenty engineers, ensuring the successful FPGA, Modem, and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) development policies, and support the hiring and staffing needs set by the Sr.
Engineering Manager.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in FPGA, Modem, and DSP development in the defense industry, with a strong background in managing diverse teams.
The ideal candidate will be able to manage a team of various electrical engineering specialties, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and provide technical guidance and support to various programs.
Essential Functions:
Reports to Senior Engineering Manager (Sr EM) and leads an engineering team of approximately eight to fifteen engineers and is responsible for their performance management, training gaps, and professional development
Collaborates with Sr EM to develop and/or manages budgets for functions or departments including operating requirements and equipment and material purchases.
Contributes to the engineering organization in meeting Annual Operating Plan (AOP) budget targets
Promotes application of standards and best practices, and process adherence; defines, evolves, tailors processes as needed for new requirements, and makes improvements in processes, systems, or products as necessary
Establishes short-term operational plans with measurable contribution to function or business area results
Has hiring and compensation authority for their assigned team in accordance with management review and approval.
Key tasks include executing staffing and workforce planning to accomplish business results and objectives, effective planning and execution of projects, pursuits, and programs, and recruitment activities as aligned to metrics and goals
Manages performance or disciplinary concerns in accordance with company policy
Communicates within and outside of organization to explain and influence changes to policies, practices, or approaches
New Employee Onboarding including IT requests, check-ins, and logistics for new hires
Travel up to 20%
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience.
Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
3+ years' experience in Electrical Engineering and Satcom
Technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Firmware Engineering, or Computer Engineering (or related science discipline)
5+ years FPGA/Modem/DSP development experience in the area of secure military communications systems
5+ years' FPGA/Modem/DSP development experience of complex communications systems in a multi-disciplinary environment
5+ years' experience leveraging FPGA/Modem/DSP requirements to design, development, and test electrical applications
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Experience with EVMS, cost proposal management systems, JIRA, and MS Project
Experience leading engineering project teams
Familiarity with RF, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines
Experience developing and verifying FPGA/Modem/DSP applications through the entire development life cycle which includes requirement definition, coding, simulation, synthesis, place and route, verification testing, and system support.
Experience with Modulation, Demodulation, Digital Filters, Networking, and Industry standard interfaces (Ethernet, SPI, UART, SDRAM, DDR3, PCIe).
Experience in continuous iterative agile like planning and development process.
Experience with VHDL/Verilog, Modem/DSP implementation in FPGA, and ASIC Design.
Experience in simulation, synthesis, and placement software tools such as ModelSim, Synplicity, Xilinx Vivado / ISE and/or Altera Quartus development tool sets.
Experience collaborating with Systems, Software, and RF engineers to ensure design and implementation meet customer requirements.
Experience developing Firmware/Hardware documentation/CDRLs as well as developing and presenting review packages (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, etc.
)
Experience developing and reviewing Firmware/Hardware BOEs/Proposals.
Effective communication skills in a collaborative team environment
Excellent organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office® applications to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
