WASS Transportation Manager - 15353 Description AAR is the place of choice to build an inspiring career.
SUMMARY The Transportation Manager is responsible for creating and implementing a uniform processes and procedures associated with receiving, shipping and hauling, to include the transportation of hazardous materials, freight classification and coordination of daily operations of the transportation network.
The process must align with the requirements to meet financial goals and expectations of the Company and support to our customer.
Assist the Transportation Supervisor and lead a team during daily activities required to support the program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Design and implement uniform processes and procedures to maximize compliance and efficiency of the transportation network.
Manage and improve the efficiency of shipments as well as all global movements.
Create metrics to manage department deliverables.
Assure staff are trained and understand processes and procedures concerning their responsibilities.
Provide leadership to drive process improvements.
Identify and cultivate new relationships and opportunities.
Facilitate the identification of problem areas and recommend quality improvement initiatives to promote effective and efficient business operations, processes and practices.
Participate in the planning of all airlifts out of and into locations.
Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of transportation activities with other department activities.
Ensure that all reports are updated and submitted in a timely manner.
Adhere to all program policies and procedures while ensuring all project/department milestones/goals are met while.
Expeditiously respond to all e-mail inquiries and phone calls that pertain to logistics and customer service.
Immediately administer appropriate reward or disciplinary actions as required to maintain an orderly work environment.
Monitor transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems.
Manage relations with transportation providers to ensure achievement of required service levels.
Randomly verifies shipping and receiving documentation, ensuring items are tagged, prepared, and processed appropriately.
Participate as needed in the Quality and Safety Audit program and brief auditors as needed on work responsibilities.
Ability to communicate clearly with customers, and all employees.
Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of an MRPT.
Perform other duties as assigned.

from a four-year college or university or eight (8) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Required: Minimum of 7 years of managing or experience in the related areas.
Experience in international shipping of parts.
ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) regulations and compliance as it pertains to shipping parts.
EAR (Export Administration Regulations) regulations and compliance as it pertains to shipping parts.
Excellent process development skills.
Must possess strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Strong knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) and the principles as they apply to purchasing and inventory management.
Ability to train employees.
Professional who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete tasks of moderate scope and complexity.
Exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.
Capable of maintaining confidentiality.
Preferred: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Experience with budget preparation.
