Job Summary As a member of the leadership team for DRS Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems (EOIS), the Senior HR Director manages human resources activities in compliance with Company philosophy, objectives and legal requirements.
Recommends and leads the implementation of HR programs, policies, procedures, and practices that focus on attracting, retaining, and developing the employee base of approximately 1350 employees.
Coordinates activities closely with other HR team members across the businesses.
The Senior HR Director will report directly to the Senior Vice President/General Manager for EOIS Job Responsibilities • Leads and manages the HR Function and team for the EOIS sites.
• Direct and coordinate human resources activities in compliance with Company philosophy, objectives and legal requirements.
• Lead the implementation of HR programs, policies, procedures and practices that focus on attracting, retaining and developing the employee base.
• As the HR leader, act as a resource to the business on HR topics; and works in coordination with the corporate team for delivery of Leonardo DRS HR solutions in in the areas of employee relations, recruiting, learning and development, administration of compensation and benefit programs.
• Ensure compliance with legislated requirements such as EEO, wage and hour, ADA, OSHA • Identify and analyze escalated employee relation problems and take appropriate action to resolve such problems.
Coordinate with HR Corporate and Legal on legal problems, lawsuits and compliance issues.
• May oversee workers compensation claims and coordinate work with insurance carrier and Corporate staff.
• Direct and maintain various activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee morale.
• Implement the succession planning process for EOIS locations, including development plans to enhance current skills and develop new skills required for the future.
• Foster an engaged employee workforce allowing employees to provide input into decision making process affecting their jobs, units or departments.
• Develop and manage an annual budget for the department and manage expenses within established guidelines.
• Determine workforce requirements and plan for current and future needs for EOIS • Assess staff training and development needs, coach and provide solutions.
• Serve as technical resource for staff.
• Lead the annual performance management process.
• Adhere to the policies and programs as set for by Leonardo DRS.
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of Leonardo DRS.
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree and 15 years required with a minimum of five years of experience in an HR leadership role or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of Human Resources policy and general knowledge of other HR disciplines • Ability to identify, analyze, develop solutions and make decisions on complex or unique issues which address the Company's business needs.
• High energy level, comfortable managing multifaceted projects in conjunction with daily activities in a fast-paced environment • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Special skills required: conflict resolution, negotiation, influencing, delivering business presentations, coaching, and counseling.
• Government contracting experience in an HR leadership role preferred.
• Experience working with a HRIS system application to include ADP and SuccessFactors preferred.
