*POSITION SUMMARY* We are leading the fight against poverty and are searching for a highly skilled Finance Director to partner with our Chief Operating Officer and direct the fiscal functions of the organization in accordance with best practice accounting principles to support the overall fiscal health of the organization.
In this role you will oversee and participate in the daily processes of the company’s financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial reconciliations.
You'll be responsible for accounting tasks such as financial reporting, general ledger journal entries, reconciliations, recording payments and adjustments; and maintaining all state and local operation permits as needed.
Accountable to the COO, you will lead through collaboration and quality leadership, while providing financial oversight for all operations, advocating for our mission and fostering a positive message within the local community and with our employee population.
*WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING* · Partner with the COO regarding status of all aspects of the organization’s finances including cash flow projections, departmental budgets, daily cash reconciliation and financial reporting.
· Manage and process incoming material whether through email or regular mail including invoices, payments, and correspondence.
· Manage the accounts payable and receivable function for the organization.
· Manage and process employee benefits reconciliation and complete timely contributions to health and retirement plans.
· Assist in compiling and reconciling information for multiple departments in multiple locations.
· Build continued credibility for the finance department by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist the executives of the company.
· Develop, propose, and monitor financial policies, procedures and systems that will improve the overall financial health of the organization.
· Provide assistance to Chief Operating Officer with preparation of accurate and timely monthly statements for the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.
· Manage and assist with annual audit ensuring accuracy of all information needed by auditor including compiling necessary data and reconciliation of accounts.
· Manage daily bank reconciliations and accuracy of data.
· Manage and process inventory and sales information downloaded from point-of-sale system.
· Ensure the maintenance of files on receipts, checks, back-up documentation and invoices.
· File various Federal and State reports and returns, ensure all permits including building, food, and grocery, etc.
are up to date.
· Oversee biweekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy of reporting, benefits reconciliation, and proper taxation.
· Manage all Worker’s Compensation, disability and unemployment claims according to state regulations.
· Continuously improve the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
· Optimize bank/deposit handling and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
· Manage the financial accounting and payroll software systems.
· Recruit, train, evaluate and manage the Finance and Accounting staff to ensure productivity and employee engagement levels remain high.
· Participate and/or lead any other Finance department initiatives as needed.
· Serve as a backup for all areas of the accounting department.
*ESSENTIALS THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL* · Proven knowledge and experience in finance and accounting, including accounting systems.
· Proven experience in budgeting within a complex organization.
· Verifiable experience managing personnel and all general accounting processes.
· Excellent communication skills and analytical skills.
· Proven knowledge in financial statement presentation.
· High-level proficiency in the use of Excel to create custom worksheets and ad hoc reports.
· Working knowledge of NetSuite Financial and Kronos Payroll Software a plus.
· Strong leadership skills, ability to manage a multi-faceted department by hiring, developing, and retaining a strong core team of employees.
· Ability to multi-task effectively within a rapidly changing environment.
· Positive attitude even in the face of adversity.
· Effective decision making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are a must.
*EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS* · Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
· Minimum of five (5) years of experience in similar role.
· Previous management experience including hiring, coaching, and managing employees and daily operations successfully.
*PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS* Must be able to move frequently throughout the day as extensive travel/movement may be required.
