d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Hardware Engineering Manager in Melbourne, Florida.
This is a hybrid position that allows working remotely from time to time based on business needs.
Travel to Cedar Rapids, IA may be required approximately once per year.

Primary Responsibilities:
Lead a team of electrical design and system engineers focused on complex product development for ruggedized electronics solutions used in many equipment types across the Collins Avionics business portfolio.
The designs include a variety of products across the Collins Communications and SATCOM portfolios, and the equipment is for a diverse range of aircraft platforms from Commercial Air Transport, and Business and Regional aircraft.
The team has responsibilities for full product life-cycle activities from road-mapping and conceptual design to sustainment support of in-production solutions, working closely with product development groups that specialize in mechanical design, platform (product) software, and systems engineering.
The Senior Hardware Engineering Manager will have the following primary responsibilities:
Responsible for the success of the team in meeting program milestones and activities.
Responsible for adherence to existing budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements, along with planning and budgeting of new efforts.
Responsible for building and refining technical roadmaps that support the variety of needs from different product and business markets.
Responsible for developing team staffing plans to meet a wide variety of technical projects.
Actively participate in team’s technical activities in order to coach and influence the team.
Actively evaluate individual employee performance and career development needs.
Oversee and participate in the development of engineering bids to ensure success.
Responsible for continually growing team capabilities through career development and onboarding of new hires.
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field and at least 10 years of progressive experience as an Engineer developing and/or managing products in the aerospace industry.
In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field and at least 7 years of experience as an Engineer developing and/or managing products in the aerospace industry would be acceptable.
At least 7 years of experience developing and/or leading development of Avionics products
At least 7 years of experience working with Avionics industry requirements (including ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160, ARINC 429, ARINC 615/A, ARINC 600, ARINC 653 & ARINC 664)
At least 7 years of experience working with avionics hardware design and development
At least 3 years of managerial experience managing engineering teams
At least 3 years of experience with FAA certification processes and stage of involvement audits
At least 3 years of project management experience managing Airborne design and development projects
