Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum development;
Preparing, instructing and grading all class coursework;
Assigning grades;
Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a specific teaching discipline;
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written;
Proven teaching skills with the ability to convey basic concepts and theories in a practical and comprehensive way;
Ability to recognize and to respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds as well as the willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
Must possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to operate a 15 passenger van;
Proven experience in utilizing computers in the classroom with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to the teaching of specific discipline(s).
Preferred:
Two to five years teaching experience in Secondary and/or post-secondary institutions.
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS)
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructing assigned classes as well as grading all quizzes, tests, and written assignments;
Delivering grades and grade justification sheets;
Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students;
Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment;
Participating in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings;
Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
It also requires manual dexterity to operate a 15 passenger institutional van, standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
