Job Summary:
This position provides general accounting support to the Director of Accounting, working with accounting staff and ministry/departmental staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Enter daily cash receipts in accounting software (other than for school payments or contributions)
· Perform sales audit for bookstore, review sales audit for café (1 Peter 4:10)
· Enter online event sales income in accounting software
· Record returned checks and follow-up with ministries to recollect funds
· Manage and review credit card receipts submitted from cardholders to ensure account coding is appropriate, the correct approval is obtained, the description and business purpose are documented, and the company’s credit card procedures are followed
· Input credit card receipts in accounting software as received until new credit card program is implemented
· Train new cardholders in accounting procedures
· Prepare account analyses assigned (monthly)
· Prepare Headcount Report
· Pay monthly benefit vendors for premiums/fees due
· Prepare assigned account analysis and related journal entries (Payroll)
· Follow-up with employees to obtain missing credit card receipts
· Balance and pay credit card statements on time
· Support preparation of forms 1099 (annually)
· Advise Director of Accounting of receipts turned in late and other problem issues related to cardholders
· Assist other accounting team members, as needed (Ephesians 4:3)
· Keep confidential all personal information related to donations and money received (Proverbs 11:13)
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor (Colossians 3:23)
Job Skills and Competencies:
· Five years of accounting experience
· College-level accounting coursework preferred
· The ability to work independently as well in team situations
· Organization, administrative and leadership skills (1 Corinthians 14:40)
· Social perceptiveness – being aware of diverse personalities and having Godly discernment to react and respond to situations as needed (Philippians 2:4)
· Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.
) software
· Ability to learn and utilize Ministry Platform (ministry database/contributions software), Revel system (Café software), and Financial Edge Nxt in Blackbaud (accounting software)
